Kristen Jaymes Stewart was born April 9th, 1990 in Los Angeles, California. Her father, John Stewart, is a stage manager and producer for Fox Studios, and her mother, Jules, who is originally from Australia, is a screenwriter. Kristen began acting at the age of eight, but her career did not begin in earnest until 2002, when she played Sarah Altman in the movie Panic Room. That performance earned her a nomination for "Best Peformance in a Feature Film - Leading Young Actress" at the Young Artist Awards.

In 2004 she was scouted by the Disney Channel and received small guest roles on two Disney shows, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2006) and Hannah Montana (2007). She then accepted a starring role as "Alex Russo" on the family comedy The Wizards of Waverly Place television show (2007) and movie (2009). Selena also played the lead role of "Beezus Quimby" in Ramona and Beezus (2010), a film based on the popular children's book by author Beverly Cleary.
